Counter- To say or do something in opposition to something else • Verb • S- Rebut • A- Agree • The ninja had to counter attack or he would receive injury from his adversary.
Cunning- Sly, crafty, or clever • Adjective • S- Clandestine • A- Open • The cunning agent, cleverly entered the enemy territory without anyone noticing.
Debris- Remains of destroyed or discarded materials; wreckage • Noun • S- Wreckage • A- Purity • When the divers ventured into the ocean they found the debris of the ship, Charlotte. It was destroyed completely.
Defiance- An act of refusal or resistance to an opposing force or authority • Noun • S- Disobedience • A- Compliance • Connor’s act of defiance against the British army, caused many riots and deaths. He was resisting the red coats.
Jut- To extend sharply outward; to project or stick out • Verb • S- Protrude • A- Recede • When his nose jut out, everyone knew that behind that mask was Pinocchio; his nose extended two feet!
Kindle- To build or start a fire; to excite a feeling or idea • Verb • S- Ignite • A- Extinguish • Hestia, kindled a fire on the hearth to provide heat to all the gods.
Knoll- A small, rounded hill • Noun • S- Hill • A- Valley • I was exhausted after I dashed up the knoll; the hill seemed impossible to climb.

Stamina- The ability to resist fatigue or illness; endurance • Noun • S- Endurance • A- Lethargy • All Tour De France racers must have a plethora of stamina to win the race. They can never give up.
Subside- To become less active or intense or agitated • Verb • S- Soothe • A- Agitate • The pain soon subsided and he was feeling better.
Swagger- To walk in a way that make it look as if you think you’re important or confident; strut • Verb & Noun • S- Strut • A- Walk • Most super stars have swagger when the walk in Hollywood; they think they are the most important.

Mercurial- Characterized by rapid and unpredictable changeableness in mood • Adjective • S- Temperamental • A- Tranquil • His mercurial personality caused him to go to prison; he had temper problems.
Lethargy- Abnormal drowsiness • Noun • S- Drowsiness • A- Energetic • Johns lethargy soon lead to him loosing his job; he always falls asleep during meetings.
Draconian- Cruel, severe, harsh • Adjective • S- Cruel • A- Friendly • Hades, the god of the Underworld, is considered Draconian due to his harsh personality.
