  2. General Information French, Spanish, and Chinese • 9th Grade placement is determined by placement test, administered February 4th and 5th, 2012. This test is for 8th graders only. • 9th Grade placement may be level 1CP, 2CP or 3CP. • Special Education students may be eligible for modified Spanish 1, 2 and 3 classes.

  3. French and Spanish Sequence One Year Requirement – Colleges look for 3-4! Level 1  Level 2  Level 3  Level 4CP or H Level 2  Level 3  Level 4CP or H  Level 5H Level 3  Level 4CP or H  Level 5 Honors  AP

  4. Middle College Credit • The 4 Honors Level of Spanish and French are eligible for Middle College Credit

  5. Chinese • Only 4% of United States Schools offer Chinese. • Fair Lawn’s program began 5 years ago, and now offers Chinese 5H and AP as upper level courses. • The program has a very high retention rate. • Chinese weighs heavily on college admission.

  6. Program Highlights • FLHS offers a French, Spanish and Chinese Honors Society • Field trips, guest speakers and cross curricular activities • Technology – Ipod cart and development of a language lab in the future
