  15. 2009 Changes to RVIPP Data Table-2 • Changed field definition for RTRESCRNPOS to clarify time period of 3 to 12 months after initial positive test • Change field name Pregnancy to Pregnant to differentiate field from RTPTOVISIT and to indicate that its not a reason for the test

  16. 2009 Changes to RVIPP Provider and Screening Criteria Tables • Added new provider type “Integrated Clinic” - to be congruent with CDC Data Dictionary and request from Illinois because of conversion of STD clinics in suburban Cook County to integrated clinics • Added new screening criteria codes to be consistent with additions to the screening criteria table: former tables only had age, signs/symptoms, universal screening and retesting - added other screening criteria including contact, history, pregnant , pregnancy test only, other and IUD

  17. Suzie Orman’s Advice to IPPs Listen Girlfriend, The STD stimulus check is not in the mail and don’t look for the federal government to bail you out. Don’t let your IPP screening program get up side down or under water!

  18. IPP Role in Infertility Prevention • Infertility is prevented by primary and secondary prevention efforts conducted by IPP programs in collaboration with federal, state and community partners. • Screening is only one element of an IPP. • Common Sources of IPP Screening Data • IPP Data Set • State and Local Laboratory Reporting • HEDIS • Ongoing and Special Studies

  19. IPP Data Set • Chlamydia and gonorrhea IPP screening data collected by state and local STD Programs and reported quarterly to Regional Infertility Prevention Projects. • Regional IPPs validate and tabulate the data, produce and publish reports and transmit data set to CDC.

State and LocalLaboratory Reporting • Most state and local health departments require laboratories performing STD testing to report, weekly, information on positive tests (incidence). • Some health departments require laboratories to report the number of tests performed and the number positive (prevalence). This helps to monitor diagnostic testing and screening rates at non-IPP sites
