  2. Main Library The Main Library is in George Square.

  4. Getting In Get through the entrance turnstiles by swiping your library card. Don’t forget to bring it!

  5. Finding your way around Video screens advise on opening hours, computer availability and library news. There is a Floor Guide near the entrance and on each floor.

  6. Self-Service There are easy to use self-service machines for borrowing and returning books. Self-issue is available on the ground, 2nd, 3rd and 4th floor.

  7. Information Services (IS) Helpdesk Get general advice on all IS Services from staff at the IS Helpdesk.

  8. Lending Stock The Main Library has over 800,000 books. Most are arranged by Library of Congress classification (eg HA29 Car) and are shelved on the 2nd and 3rd floors. Some older books are shelved on the 4th floor arranged by Dewey Decimal classification (eg 712(28)). Journals are also on the 4th floor.

  9. High Use Book Collection (HUB) The HUB is on the ground floor and includes the most popular books, often reading list titles. Borrow books in the HUB by using the self-issue machines.

  10. Current print journals Some of the newly bought printed books and latest editions/issues of printed newspapers and journals are displayed on the 1st floor. You have access to over 30,000 online journals.

  11. Group Study Facilities There are a variety of informal and conversational study space on the ground and 1st floor. Including 29 group study pods.

  12. Individual Study Space Individual study space is available throughout the library. Note that some are designated as Quiet Study areas. There is a Postgraduate study area on the 5th floor.

  13. Computing facilities There are over 500 open-access PCs in the library. Wireless access is available throughout the building if you wish to bring your own laptop.

  14. uCreate uCreate, on the 1st floor, provides multimedia and specialist IT facilities on a self-service basis. Make podcasts, print posters, and use a variety of multimedia facilities.

  15. Photocopying and Printing Copying and printing areas are available throughout the building. Staff and students, pay by debiting your Print Accounts. Top up your credit online or at machines on the ground floor.

  16. Centre for Research Collections (CRC) CRC, on the 6th floor, is the gateway to accessing the historic collections of rare books, manuscripts, archives, fine art and museum objects.

  17. Student Services Visit the Careers Service on the 3rd floor. The Student Counselling and Student Disability Services are also on the 3rd floor.

  18. Library Café Have a break from studying in the Library Café, on the ground floor.
