  1. The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!” – John 1:29 JESUS--THE LAMB OF GOD

  2. I. "WHERE IS THE LAMB?" • Genesis 22:7 Isaac spoke up and said to his father Abraham, “Father?” “Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. “The fire and wood are here,” Isaac said, “but where is the lamb for the burnt offering?”

  3. Revelation 13:8 • All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast—all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.

  4. Exodus 12:1-13 The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, 2 “This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. 3 Tell the whole community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. 4 If any household is too small for a whole lamb, they must share one with their nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 5 The animals you choose must be year-old males without defect, and you may take them from the sheep or the goats. 6 Take care of them until the fourteenth day of the month, when all the people of the community of Israel must slaughter them at twilight. 7 Then they are to take some of the blood and put it on the sides and tops of the doorframes of the houses where they eat the lambs. 8 That same night they are to eat the meat roasted over the fire, along with bitter herbs, and bread made without yeast. 9 Do not eat the meat raw or cooked in water, but roast it over the fire—head, legs and inner parts. 10 Do not leave any of it till morning; if some is left till morning, you must burn it. 11 This is how you are to eat it: with your cloak tucked into your belt, your sandals on your feet and your staff in your hand. Eat it in haste; it is the Lord’s Passover. 12 “On that same night I will pass through Egypt and strike down every firstborn—both men and animals—and I will bring judgment on all the gods of Egypt. I am the Lord.13 The blood will be a sign for you on the houses where you are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you. No destructive plague will touch you when I strike Egypt.

  5. II. "BEHOLD THE LAMB OF GOD" • John 1:29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!”

  6. Jesus is our Passover Lamb (1 Cor. 5:7) • Both were appointed by God (Ex 12:3; 1 Pet 1:18-20) • Both were approved as without blemish after examination (Ex 12:5; 1 Pet 2:21) • Both were slaughtered by the Israelites (Ex 12:5; Ac 2:36) • Both were slaughtered between the evenings (Ex 12:6; Mk 14:33- 34) • Both had their blood applied to God’s people (Ex 12:7; 1 Pet 1:2) • Both did not suffer a broken bone (Ex 12:46; Jn 19:31-37) • Both were eaten (Ex 12:8-11; Jn 6:53-54) • Both cause God’s wrath to Passover those to whom the blood was applied (Ex 12:13; Rom 8:1)

  7. III. "WORTHY IS THE LAMB" • Revelation 5:12 In a loud voice they sang: “Worthy is the Lamb, who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and strength and honor and glory and praise!”

  8. Our Obligations to the Lamb We should (be):1. Washed in His Blood (Rev. 7:14)2. Written in His Book (Rev. 21:27; 22:14)3. Walk in His Behavior (Rev. 14:4)4. Witness of His Blessing (Rev. 12:11)
