Why do humans wish to humanize animals, or do we aspire to attain their qualities? Why is there a universal need for humans to use animals as metaphors for themselves?

Unit ObjectivesTLW: • Draw parallels between humans and animals by writing in first-person narrative • Become familiar with animal anatomy physical presence through observational and written documentation • Create a scratch art product with correct technique • Create of maquette of an animal using correct technique • Demonstrate understanding of how and whay humans use constructivist animal sculpture

  4. Content • Criticism: Critique of drawings, scratch art and final sculpture • History: Minimalism, Constructivism, • Aesthetics: Examine the qualities of selected art works and their meanings • Production: Drawings, Scratch art, sculpture

  6. What is our goal? • Our goal is to create 3 separate pieces of quality art. • 1. Drawing of the anatomy of an animal from various sides • 2. Line art (scratch art) of an animal • 3. Maquette of an animal in sculpture form • Time frame: 3 weeks (approximately)

  7. 1. Animals A to Z Page (not just a list!) This is an artistic rendering of animals A to Z. (1 – 2 page layout) 2. Collage of animals: I Like/Dislike----- Accept/Reject (This is a social commentary also… complete with words and images) (2 Page layout) 3. Research and present a PPT of an artist who portrays animals (Outline pasted in book) 4. Artistic creation of the characteristics that tell about “YOU” (2 page layout) Drawing of Anatomy (3 Page layout) 5. Bones 6. Muscles 7.
