  8. Key Issue • How Do 3GPP2 (3GPP) and MWIF Interoperate? • Acceptance of MWIF • Contributions • Member Companies - Group Contributions • MWIF Joins 3GPP2, similar to CDG • Workload - Scheduling - Resources

  9. More Background

  10. Why is MWIF Different? • MWIF is Operator/Service Provider driven and will specifically address their needs & concerns • Infrastructure Cost Implications • Multi-vendor requirements • Quick and independent service creation / deployment • MWIF will bring together the mobile wireless and Internet players • to enable early deployment of seamless, economic IP-based Mobile wireless network (cost savings) • to ensure target wireless architecture is aligned with the Internet • to establish co-operative efforts to jointly deploy feature-rich end services (enhanced revenues from IP-based applications) • Target Industry Sectors include: • Wireless Operators • Internet Service Providers • Internet Application & Content Developers • Internet Infrastructure & Mobile Telephony Network Element Suppliers

  11. The Mobile Wireless Internet Forum will: • be Open to all operators, service providers and suppliers who have a desire to produce a global, common vision for an Internet-based mobile wireless network and related service capabilities • Act as a driver that is complementary to the existing standards working groups and will provide a common voice of global operators • Ensure that key regional and global standards groups address requirements that global operators see critical to early and economic deployment of IP-based mobile wireless network • will be mobile technology neutral and not biased towards any particular standards
