  3. History of Jump Rope for Heart • Late 1970’s - Jean Barkow- “rope-a-thon” at school • 1977 - Piolt program in Illinois • 1978 - Went National! • Demonstration teams were established Hmm…I should run a “Rope-a-thon” with my students

  7. Why is it important for kids to know how to have Healthy Hearts? • Over 15 percent of children and adolescents are now overweight. • 4 million children have above-normal blood pressure. • 27 million children have high cholesterol.
