Cadences. Music Advance Subsidiary. Cadences. You are required to name cadences in a given melody at the end of a phrase. In a given melody you will need to recognize the following cadences: Perfect (V - I), Imperfect (any chord - V), Interrupted (V - IV), Plagal (IV –I).

  5. Chords most commonly used at cadences are: • Any chord followed by V (imperfect cadence) Listen

  6. Chords most commonly used at cadences are: • V followed by VI (interrupted cadence) Listen
