  9. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • In the calling and leading of Israel God often showed His glory. (Ex 24:16-17)

  10. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • Exodus 24:16-17 (NKJV) - Now the glory of the Lord rested on Mount Sinai, and the cloud covered it six days. And on the seventh day He called to Moses out of the midst of the cloud. 17 The sight of the glory of the Lordwaslike a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

  16. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • Israel saw the glory of God again and again but never understood what God was like! They never humbled themselves and saw His goodness. • Why did God severely punish them when they refused to enter the promised land? (Num 14:20-23)

  17. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • Numbers 14:20-23 (NKJV) - Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word; 21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of theLord—22 because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice,

  18. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • 23 they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.

God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • Deuteronomy 5:24-33 (NKJV) - And you said: ‘Surely the Lord our God has shown us His glory and His greatness, and we have heard His voice from the midst of the fire. For this great fire will consume us; if we hear the voice of the Lord our God anymore, then we shall die.

  22. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • 26 For who is there of all flesh who has heard the voice of the living God speaking from the midst of the fire, as we have, and lived? 27 You go near and hear all that the Lord our God may say, and tell us all that the Lord our God says to you, and we will hear and do it.’

  23. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • 28 “Then the Lord heard the voice of your words when you spoke to me, and the Lord said to me: ‘I have heard the voice of the words of this people which they have spoken to you. They are right in all that they have spoken. 29 Oh, that they had such a heart in them that they would fear Me and always keep all My commandments, that it might be well with them and with their children forever!

  24. God’s glory is shown to men that they might know Him • 30 Go and say to them, “Return to your tents.” 31 But as for you, stand here by Me, and I will speak to you all the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments which you shall teach them, that they may observe them in the land which I am giving them to possess.’
