Faculty Committee on the Academic Success of Student-Athletes(FCASSA) • Seven Faculty members • Supported by staff of the Provost and of the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics • Charge: recommend policies, procedures, programs and guidelines for action intended to enhance the academic success of student-athletes. • Conduct annual review of admissions practices and academic progress and success of student-athletes provide advice to the Provost and the Director of Intercollegiate Athletics.

  3. Key findings after initial general review of student-athlete success: • Academic Enrichment Program is provided appropriate support • Standards at USF, of the Big East, and the NCAA position student-athletes for success • Review of exceptional or “special talent” admission decisions of student-athletes shows a rate of success that exceeds the general student population • Ratio of students to advisors is key • general student population: 400 to 1 • in Athletics: 90 to 1.

  7. Next Steps of FCASSA • Continued review of academic success of student-athletes, by sport • Review of practices and services of Academic Enrichment Program to ensure they meet the needs of current athletes
