  1. 2016 SFSP Updates and Noteworthy Changes The Summer Food ServiceProgram for Children Providing Food & Fun So Children Can Have a Fabulous Summer!

  2. Application Due Dates The 2016 On-Line Application will be ready for updates beginning March 7th! • April 11th– if ordering USDA Foods (commodities) and/or requesting an advance payment • May 13th–  if NOT ordering USDA Foods and/or requesting an advance payment

  3. Online Application Updates • Updates to Online Application • Remember to update each site. If a site is not operating this summer, delete it. • Application Attachments will need to be uploaded into the application. • SFSP application information and Internet Application manual can be found at: http://dpi.wi.gov/community-nutrition/sfsp/market

Nondiscrimination Statement In accordance with Federal civil rights law and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) civil rights regulations and policies, the USDA, its Agencies, offices, and employees, and institutions participating in or administering USDA programs are prohibited from discriminating based on race, color, national origin, sex, disability, age, or reprisal or retaliation for prior civil rights activity in any program or activity conducted or funded by USDA. Additionally, program information may be made available in languages other than English. To request a copy of the complaint form, call (866) 632-9992.   7. Meal Service Requirements Offer vs. Serve is an option for all sponsored sites! Offer vs. Serve = opportunity to minimize food waste • Breakfast (revised requirements): • One serving of fruit/vegetable, • One serving of bread/bread alternate, • One serving of fluid milk, and • One additional serving of fruit/veggie, bread/bread alternate, or a serving of a meat/meat alternate. • All the food items offered must be different from each other. • A child must take at least 3 of any of the 4 food items offered.

Meal Service Requirements Lunch or Supper: Four components required, must be offered through at least five food items: • One serving of meat/meat alternate • Two different servings of fruit/vegetable • One serving of grain/bread • One serving of fluid milk A child must take at least three of the four food components, rather than items, to meet OVS requirements.

  9. Meal Service Requirements Snack: Snack requirements remain unchanged. SFSP Snacks must include 2 of the 4 components. *Juice and milk can not be offered as a snack.

  10. Meal Service Requirements • Children must eat all components of the meal onsite except: • One fruit, vegetable or grain item. • Beginning last summer, FNS extended the option of family style meal service to include closed enrolled sites in the SFSP.

  13. Demonstration Project • Non-Congregate Feeding for Outdoor Summer Feeding Sites Experiencing Excessive Heat was extended for Summer 2015 and 2016. • More information and how to request to participate can be found on our website: www.wisummerfood.org.
