  1. RHYTHM FOLLOWING FLASH LIGHTS

  2. Introduction This project is implemented in such a way that the lights glow according the music. This music operated running lights circuit uses IC’s. The music (sound) signals are sensed by a condenser microphone which is then amplified by an IC. The outputs of the IC are fed to the transistors to drive bulbs LED’s those dance as per the music played

  3. EMBEDDED SYSTEMS Definition for :- EMBEDDED SYSTEMS • A combination of hardware and software which together form a component of a larger machine. • An example of an embedded system is a microprocessor that controls an automobile engine. • An embedded system is designed to run on its own without human intervention, and may be required to respond to events in real time.

  6. BATTERY • An electrical battery is a combination of one or more electrochemical cells, used to convert stored chemical energy into electrical energy. • The battery has become a common power source for many household, robotics and industrial applications. • Larger batteries provide standby power for telephone exchanges or computer data centers

  7. 1N4148 The 1N4148 is a standard small signal silicondiode used in signal processing. Its name follows the JEDEC nomenclature.

  8. OP-AMP • An operational amplifier ("op-amp") is a DC-coupled high-gain electronic voltage amplifier with a differential input and, usually, a single-ended output. • An op-amp produces an output voltage that is typically hundreds of thousands times larger than the voltage difference between its input terminals. • The circuit symbol for an op-amp is shown to the right, where: • : non-inverting input • : inverting input • : output • : positive power supply • : negative power supply

  9. CONDENSER MICROPHONE Condenser means capacitor, an electronic component which stores energy in the form of an electrostatic field. The term condenser is actually obsolete but has stuck as the name for this type of microphone, which uses a capacitor to convert acoustical energy into electrical energy. The resulting audio signal is stronger signal than that from a dynamic.

  10. The electret condenser mic uses a special type of capacitor which has a permanent voltage built in during manufacture. This is somewhat like a permanent magnet, in that it doesn't require any external power for operation.

  11. AUDIO LEVEL INDICATOR IC(CTC1403) / DECADE COUNTER IC(4017) In electronics, counters can be implemented quite easily using register-type circuits such as the flip-flop, and a wide variety of classifications exist: • The 4017 decade counter has ten outputs which go HIGH in sequence when a source of pulses is connected to the CLOCK input and when suitable logic levels are applied to the RESET and ENABLE inputs.

  12. Basic operation. Here is the circuit diagram for a 4017 test circuit:

  13. INSIDE THE 4017 The behaviour of D-type flip-flops is described in the 4013 entry in the Beastie Zone. Essentially, the logic state at the D, or data input is transferred to the Q output on the rising edge of the clock signal. For a shift register, the clock inputs of all the D-type stages are joined together so that all the flip-flops are clocked simultaneously

  14. The diagram shows how the Johnson counter outputs can be decoded to give a 1 of 6 outputs:
