  4. How do we advise our students? We calculate the points score by calculating the top 8 GCSE’s (or equivalent). But this must include English Language and Mathematics Each grade is given a value: By calculating this you will see what pathway we recommend

Academic Pathways Based upon the GCSE grades that are received next summer Various pathways are available: 4 A Levels 46+ 3 A Levels 42+ 2 A Levels + 1 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma 40+ BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma + 1 A Level 38+ BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma 36+ Subjects will have individual criteria (stated in the prospectus)

  6. Terminology 1 A Level = 1 choice on the timetable (9 periods per fortnight) 1 BTEC Extended Diploma = 3 choices on the timetable (32 periods per fortnight) 1 BTEC Subsidiary Diploma = 1 choice on the timetable (9 Periods per fortnight) 50 timetabled periods per fortnight

  10. Getting it right! • Students must be on the appropriate pathway • Every student receives an individual consultation to discuss their future • Offers are made to students on an individual basis • Students must have 540 GLH recorded on their timetables

The Future’s Bright! • Shenfield Sixth Form is preparing its learners for whichever pathway their future leads • Increasing amounts of students applying and going to university (63% in 2011, 64% in 2012 and 68% in 2013) • Most students are in employment, an apprenticeship, in higher education or on a GAP year • Underlining how well Shenfield Sixth Form is able to cater and help students reach their aspirations
