Welcome to Mrs. Hahn’s 3rd Grade Class! Our academic programs include English Language Arts, Accelerated Reading, Science, Social Studies, and Math. We also offer support programs such as i-ready, Think Central, and Google Classroom. Our mission is to prepare all students for college readiness and success in a global society through AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). Academic Programs English Language Arts • All third graders use Academic Vocabulary, Power Language, Accelerated Reading, Science and Social Studies. • ELA classes use Wonders Go Math for all students • Support programs include i-ready for ELA/Math, Think Central for Math, and Google Classroom

  4. AVIDAdvancement Via Individual Determination • Avid Organization • Binders (provided by school) • Agendas • Classroom Supplies • Backpacks • Students must bring the AVID binder and chomebooks daily!

  5. Accelerated Reader • Students read and take tests at their individual reading level. Their reading level and percent of quizzes passed are added to their Language Arts grade.

  6. Mathematics Go Math by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt • Text book is a workbook • H.W. given is due the next day • Reflex Math • Think Central and i-ready web sites for additional support.

  7. Grading/ Standards • California Standards • Progress Reports (every 6 weeks) • Print Outs • Report Cards • At the end of the trimester

  8. Homework • Checked for completion and understanding; not used as a grade, but must be completed. • Daily: Turned in everyday. • Not turned in lose a Class Dojo point. Math assignments on Think Central. Must be 75% correct or do the lesson over in the workbook.

  11. Parent Conference • November 9th and 10th: For All Students • As needed: Let me know or I will contact you if I have concerns.

  12. Attendance • Return absence notes/doctor’s notes on the day of your child’s return • Try to schedule appointments before/after school • Better to be late/or check out early than to not come at all. • Perfect Attendance Policy: -no absences or tardies • 3 days to clear absences

  13. Water/Snacks • Lunch is 12:25. Nutritional snacks are okay to eat during recess(@10:50). • Water Bottles are okay to have in class. • No birthday parties. • For class parties (Christmas & Valentines Day) bring only store bought goodies.
