What is IAC? • International Aerobatic Club • Organization for aerobatic enthusiasts (Not for pilots only!) • Division of EAA • Purpose - to promote and enhance safety and enjoyment of sport aerobatics • Goals • Be world’s leading authority on aerobatic safety • Be world’s leader on aerobatic education

History • IAC first started in 1970 • Bob Heuer - founder • Created building block approach to sport aerobatics • Developed the Basic, Sportsman, Intermediate, Advanced, Unlimited categories • Responsible for conduct and administration of aerobatic contests in USA • Local, National, & World contests • Contest format and rules • Contest administration • Contest judging and judges

  5. Does IAC want only members who fly or compete? • NO! • If you enjoy watching aerobatics….. • If you want to learn more about aerobatics….. • If you want to help promote aerobatic safety….. • …..then this group is for YOU!

  6. What are IAC membership benefits? • Monthly Magazine • Dedicated to aerobatics • Insurance • Discounted plans available for pilots and aircraft • Safety • Resources available for questions concerning safety issues • Competition • Opportunity to compete at regional and national level

What are the benefits of a local chapter? • Opportunity to meet with other local aerobatic enthusiasts • Develop network of local aerobatic consultants • Promote aerobatic safety thru “hangar flying” and chapter events • Possibility to establish an area for aerobatic practice • Create opportunity to meet and watch some of the best aerobatic pilots in US perform at a local contest • Create opportunity to develop future aerobatic “stars”

What’s needed to start a local IAC Chapter? • Minimum of 5 current IAC/EAA members • Serve as officers • Complete Paperwork • Chapter Roster • Chapter Application • Chapter Insurance • State Non-profit filing • Fees • IAC membership – $45/$55 • IAC chapter fees – $204 • Local Dues – variable on member numbers

What do we need from you today? • Show of hands! • Is there enough interest to start a local chapter? • If so, provide information on sign-up roster • Name, address, phone #, e-mail address, and IAC number • Input • What level of activity for chapter (monthly, quarterly) • Ideas for activities • Volunteer • Officer positions • Help with paperwork – IAC, State non-profit filing • Initial Dues • Not required at this time, will notify via e-mail • Expected $20-30 annually

  10. What’s on tap for today? • Meet other IAC members and aerobatic enthusiasts • Walk the flightline and look at aerobatic planes • Stay and watch aerobatic practice routines flown from 3 – 4 pm • AJ Hefel/Laser – Intermediate routine • Tony Johnstone/Decathlon – Sportsman figures
