  2. America, do we have a problem? • As of 2004, there were 200 million drivers on our roads. • Half reported using a cellular device while driving. • That’s about 100,000,000 people!

  3. While Texting and Driving… • 23 times more at risk • Average of 4.6 seconds concentration away from the road • At 55 mph, that’s the time it takes to go the length of a football field! • Leave their lane 10% more often • 50% increase

  4. How much will it take? • 2,000 to 3,000 deaths • Without text messaging • 1 in 5 • 1 in 3

  5. Teenagers • 2,899 text messages per month • 46% of teens admit to texting while driving • 16% were caused by cell phones • 100 teens in NYC killed

  6. Adults • In a study • 25 + 27% admit to TWD • Younger adults are more likely to text then the older generation. • 86% think it should be banned. • 18-29 • Large amount text

  7. Laws • 11 states and District of Columbia prohibit texting

  9. Cell Phones Vs. DUI Cellular Devices while driving Drinking and Driving • Reaction time is 35% slower • Control is 91% less • Reaction time is 12% slower • Control is 35% less • Cannabis control is 30% slower
