  1. Medical Procedures

  2. References • Chapter 13 of the BN guidebook found on the HRNROTC website • Chapter 5 of the ROD (Regulations for Officer Development)

  3. 13-1 Sick Call • If you become so sick that you can not attend PT, Naval lab, or any other unit function, you must inform your Company Commander via your chain of command of your absence. Next, you must report to either your university’s clinic (midshipmen) or Military Sick Call (active duty members). These facilities will give you the appropriate documents for your chain of command of your status and any special restrictions. You must submit one copy to your advisor, one copy to your Company Commander, and retain the original copy on your person for the duration of your limited duty status. You are responsible for informing your chain of command.

  4. 13-2 Pregnancy • If you are pregnant, see your military advisor. Depending on the timing of the due date, you will need to discuss the impact of having a baby on your class schedule. Also, your advisor will discuss the Navy’s policies on issues such as maternity leave and the PRT. Officer Candidates and Marines follow established Military Policies in regard to pregnancy. Member policies are outlined in the CNET NROTC Administrative Manual (CNETINST P1533/3). • A student may not be commissioned while pregnant. Following pregnancy the student will have to update their pre-commissioning physical. • Members who are pregnant will be placed on medical Leave of Absence (LOA). A post pregnancy medical examination is required to come off LOA.

  5. 13-3 Eye Surgery • CNET and BUMED strictly forbid elective eye surgery for correcting vision. Contact the Administrators in the Admin area on BUMED and CNET’s current policy on eye surgery. Official Navy policies on elective eye surgeries apply to all HRNROTC members. • If space is available, active duty members may receive eye surgery through the naval health care system.

  6. Medical and Dental Care • STA-21 and MECEP students are covered by TRICARE • NROTC Scholarship and College Program (Advance Standing) are eligible to receive military facilities care under several circumstances • MIDN are also eligible to receive civilian care

  7. Records • All MIDN medical and dental records are to be kept at the unit with ADMIN • STA-21 and MECEP continue to keep their records at the nearest military facility provider

  8. Disenrollment • Failure to notify Advisors of a changing medical condition or a physically limiting condition could result in possible disenrollment or other disciplinary action.

  9. Summary • Know the policies that apply! • Always keep your advisors notified. • Use the military facilities whenever possible. • Stay out of trouble!!!!
