  4. Influences on health status • There are many factors that contribute to the differences experienced in both developed and developing countries. • An understanding of these factors is essential in reducing the inequalities that exist globally.

  5. Influences on health status • As it is always a combination of elements that contribute to the health outcomes of a population, it is difficult to look at factors in isolation. Some of the factors we will be examining include: Gender Equality Physical Environment Education Access to Health Care

  6. Income • GDP – Gross Domestic Produce GDP is the market value of all goods and services produced in a country in a given year. • It is a reflection of the wealth of a country and affects how much money is available to spend on services and infrastructure.
