    2. Academic Standing Academic Probation Academic Probation is the action taken when a student’s UCF cumulative GPA falls below a 2.0. Both the current term and UCF cumulative GPA must reach a 2.0 or better before the student can be removed from Academic Probation. Students can verify whether or not they are on academic probation by checking through their My.UCF.edu account. Disqualified Academic suspension that is the result of earning a term GPA below a 2.0 (C- average and below) while on Academic Probation. Once disqualified the student may not enroll at UCF for two consecutive semesters, AND, will need to apply to the University and the College for readmission. Readmission back to the University is not guaranteed and can be a lengthy and very difficult process. * For a full description of the Academic Standing and Readmission policies please see the current Undergraduate Catalog.

    4. Academic Standing Continued Exclusion Exclusion is the most serious of consequences that occurs when a student falls below a 2.0 term GPA while on probation following disqualification. A student who is Excluded from the University is not eligible for future readmission. Readmission There are two types of readmission standing defined in the Undergraduate catalog: 1. Readmission Following Non-Enrollment for Two Consecutive Semesters, and 2. Readmission Following Suspension, or Disqualification. The 2nd standing requires the student to take no more than 2 courses until he or she is released from academic probation. Readmission after being disqualified is a lengthy process if College support is granted, and the readmitted student is expected to fulfill necessary College and University conditions. However, Readmission after Disqualification is not guaranteed. A student who previously disqualified from UCF is eligible to apply for Readmission after sitting out for two terms, and if readmitted, the student is expected to have completed the Major’s Common Program Prerequisites and have been awarded an AA degree by the time of readmission. Grade Change If a student is suspended (disqualified), the Admissions and Standards Committee may review the suspension and readmit the student if the Committee decides readmission is warranted. For further explanation on the Grade Change policy, please see the current Undergraduate Catalog.

    6. UCF Withdrawal Policy What is the policy? As of summer 2009 students will receive a “W” if a course is dropped on the 5th day of Add/Drop Week. Students who withdraw from a course are still fee-liable. You will need to officially withdraw from your course(s) through your my.UCF.edu account. A student is not automatically withdrawn from a course for not showing up to class. Where can you find it? In the MOST RECENT catalog & on the Academic Calendar. Who can help clear up questions about this policy? Registrar’s Office and COSAS

    8. Unresolved “I” Grades What is an “I” grade? A grade of “I” (incomplete) may be assigned by the professor if the student is unable to complete the course due to an extenuating circumstance. To read more about the description, please see the current Undergraduate Catalog. How long do you have to resolve an “I” grade? The incomplete grade must be changed within one year of the last day of the term attempted or prior to graduation from the University, which ever comes first. However a student is not guaranteed 1 year as his or her professor may set an earlier deadline. A student can not graduate from the University with an “I” on his/her transcript. What happens to an unresolved “I” grade? They will automatically be changed to an “F” by the Registrar’s Office. If the course is graded with an “S” or “U” the grade will automatically convert to a “U” (or unsatisfactory).

    10. Grade Forgiveness What is Grade Forgiveness? The student must complete the Grade Forgiveness Request no later than the withdrawal deadline for the term/session in which the student has registered for the course being repeated. For a complete description of the policy please see the current Undergraduate Catalog. How many times can you request a Grade Forgiveness? Grade Forgiveness is limited to two courses, and can only be requested for courses taken at UCF. Grade Forgiveness can not be used twice for the same course. UCF only honors grade forgiveness obtained at other institutions that are part of an Associate in Arts or a specific statewide articulated AS degree transferred from a Florida Public Community College or State University. Where can you find the Grade Forgiveness Request Form? My.UCF.edu, Student Self Service, Drop Down Menu, Apply for Grade Forgiveness Who can help me determine if I have any available? COSAS Advisor

    12. Accommodations How do I request academic accommodations at UCF? Visit the Student Disability Services (SDS) Office in Ferrell Commons Room 132, or call 407-823-2371. Visit their website at http://www.sds.sdes.ucf.edu/ Who will know if I request accommodations? Only those from the University who will assist with your accommodations

    14. Advising First Year Advising All Freshmen should initially consult with their First Year Advisors. College of Sciences Academic Services COSAS has individualized advising available by appointment for students in a probation status, and Walk-In Peer Advising for general advising questions. If you would like to meet with one of our advisors please call 407-823-6131 to make an appointment. Department Advisors Each major/department has advisors available to help students map out a plan of study and to provide more detailed information about course work and major.

    16. Applying For Readmission Required Applications Completion of the following two applications are required when applying for Readmission, after a Disqualification: 1. Undergraduate Readmission Application through the Registrar’s Office, and 2. COS Readmission Application Packet. Both applications are requested and submitted through different offices and require additional documentation. Neither application will be reviewed if documentation is not attached. Minimum Criteria for College Support The COS Readmission Review Committee makes a final unanimous decision based on documentation submitted with the COS Readmission Application, though support will be initially denied if the following are not met: 1. completion of an AA from a Florida Public Institution (and posted to the applicant’s transcript), 2. completion of the CLAS Requirement, 3. completion of the major’s current Common Program Prerequisites, 4. completion of credit with nothing less than a “B” at a Florida State Institution.
