  2. The Organization • Catholic Parish Outreach is located in Raleigh, NC. • It helps needy local families in the Triangle Area and provides them with food, toiletries, and clothes. • It is a nonprofit organization that runs mostly on volunteers.

  3. My Experience • First started volunteering in the summer of 2010 because of a service project through my church, St. Raphael’s. • Continued to volunteer there after the service project through my church. • Volunteered after that from 2010-2012.

  4. Volunteer Work • There were many ways to volunteer at Catholic Parish Outreach. • I have done many different jobs here including: • Delivering and unloading the food and toiletries out to the family’s car. • Packing and sorting different food items. • Filling food orders. • Organizing the clothes in the clothing department and helping families find the clothes they need.

  5. Benefits of Volunteering • I learned how to appreciate what I have and learned that everyone has a story and to always help people going through hard times. • Working at CPO gave me more responsibility because I was handling and filling orders for another person’s food. • I also became more organized and efficient, because at times, we could get up to seventy orders an hour and I had to learn how to best fill my order in a timely manner and still do a quality packing job.

  6. Benefits of Volunteering continued • As a result of my many hours of volunteering at CPO, I also received the Presidential Community Service Award in both 2011 and 2012. • Volunteering at CPO will always be a comforting place for me because I take pride in all the people I help and I know I am always welcome there.
