Mount Mercy College Transition Year • ASSESSMENT • STUDENTS WILL HAVE REGULAR HOMEWORK AND STUDY ASSIGNED TO THEM TO MAINTAIN AND IMPROVE GOOD WORK PRACTICES • PROJECT WORK WILL HAVE SET COMPLETION DATES DURING THE YEAR • STUDENTS WILL BE REQUIRED TO SIT CHRISTMAS AND SUMMER EXAMINATIONS • PERSONAL PORTFOLIO FILE • SCHOOL CERTIFICATES WILL BE ISSUED TO SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES ON COMPLETION OF THE COURSE

Mount Mercy College Transition Year • WORK EXPERIENCE • Monday, 23rd March– Friday, April 3rd 2020(Provisional) • Provisional because of SEC Oral Exams for Leaving Certificate • TWO WEEKS • ONE FURTHER WEEK OPTION BY ARRANGEMENT WITH TY CO- • ORDINATOR /PRINCIPAL • WHICH MUST BE CAREER RELATED • WORK EXPERIENCE WILL BE BY ARRANGEMENT WITH PARENTS AND • STUDENTS • STUDENTS WHO DO NOT GO ON SCHOOL TOUR SHOULD ARRANGE • ONE EXTRA WEEKS WORK EXPERIENCE

  16. GARDA VETTING • Students under 16 cannot be vetted legally. (This may have implications for their work experience /community work placements as many organisations cannot accept a student who has not been vetted) • Students can only be vetted after their 16th birthday. • Forms will be distributed to students upon return in Sept 2019 • The school submits the application on behalf of the student. • Thereafter the JMB contacts the parent via email address on the application form to begin the process of vetting. • It takes approximately 3 weeks for vetting outcome.

  17. Extra Work Placements Students availing of extra work placements throughout the year must submit this request in writing to the Principal.

  28. FEE’S TY Registration- €300 – due by 12th April. ECDL - €150 – due by the 12th April JC Examination Fee - €109 – due to the SEC by the 26th April. Ski Tour Deposit - €150 – due in May

Junior Cert 2018Block Classes will commence for Third Year Students on Wednesday 22nd May 2019.Each subject will have one two hour block with the exception of Maths which will have two.Blocks will run from 8.40 to 10.40 and 10.55 to 12.55.On Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th there will be supervised study in the afternoon.From Monday 27th Third year students can go home at 12.55
