  2. setting • The setting of the story is in Leningrad after it was invaded by Germany. With Nazi soldiers all over the city blocking anyone from getting out of or entering Leningrad.

  3. Characters • Lev Beniov- Son of a Jewish poet who was killed during Stalinist purges. • Kolya- Russian soldier but because of his blue eyes and blonde hair is convicted a traitor by his battilion.

  4. The mission • When kolya and Lev are captured in the beginning of the story a German officer gives them a task that if completed will save their lives. • The Mission is to find a dozen eggs for The officers daughters Wedding cake. This is almost impossible comsidering no supplies have been sent to Leningrad except for the rations given out by Nazi officers.

  5. Ecounters • While On their mission to find the eggs Kolya and Lev encounter a man who says he has Eggs but once The boys enter the shop they realize he is a cannibal that wants to eat them. • Lev and Kolya meet a russian militia outside of Leningrad where Lev meets many russian men and one woman who help them kill a Nazi officer.

  6. Recommendations • I would recommend this book to anybody who loves a good mystery and is interested in Nazi Germany.
