  3. Overview: Goals: • Support project scoping for 2016 – 2018 STIP • Deliver inventory and condition assessment • Identify culverts needing repair or replacement

  4. Culvert Inventory Target Milestones Note: No significant field work during winter months (Nov 2013 – March 2014)

  5. Budget • 2011-2013 • Budgeted Amount: $800K • Actual Spent to Date: $140K as of April 2013 • 2013-2015 • STP funds requested $1.2m • Allocated cost $525K Total Project Budget is $2.5m

  6. Accomplishments • Established Steering Committee – April 2013 • Hired Project Manager – April 2013 • Hired and Trained Field Crews – April 2013 • Established Project Management Administration (Risk, Issue, Action Item and Decision Logs) – May 2013 • Report back to Leadership Teams – May/June 2013 • Development of special field equipment

  7. NON-INTERSTATE: 1,000 miles ACA Completed 2007: 600+ miles BCA Completed 2013: 230+ miles BCA Remaining: 170 miles INTERSTATE: 700 miles BCA Completed 2013: 8 miles BCA Remaining: 692 miles

Lessons Learned • Equipment • Order additional equipment • Technology hand holding was beneficial during first couple of weeks • Culvert Inventory Training • More time needed for field exercises/labs during classroom training • Instructor to student ratio is much smaller for field exercises/labs • Recognized value of live field training in own region/districts (which is completed after classroom and field exercises/labs) • Create Modules to customize training

  9. Lessons Learned ctd. • Process • Safety training was covered really well • Development of Software Applications during large scale field data collection efforts puts strain on critical-path staff resources • Interstate Routes are taking longer than anticipated due to safety and complexity

Next Steps • Field Crews to work on Priority Routes thru Nov 2013 • Review work completed in 2013 • Publish results of work completed in 2013 • Plan for work in 2014 • Manage Contractor Deliverables • Delivery of TransInfo Updates • Delivery of Advanced Condition Assessment ArcPad Application • Manage Project Budget
