  3. TAFA Committee 2003 This committee will be in charge until the next General Election which will take place on April 2004.

TAFA Members • Current membership registration totally 124 Companies • Ordinary Members 99 Companies • Associate Members 25 Companies • Being IATA Members • IATA 59 Companies • Non IATA 65 Companies TAFA Training ProgramThere are two requirement courses i.e. Basic Cargo & DGR. Total number of participants passed the test is 248 persons

  5. Liability Insurance The scheme starts with Royal & Sun Alliance and carries on for two years. Now QBE is taking over from Royal & Sun Alliance. The total number of participants is totally 40 companies. Default Insurance Program There are 43 Airlines and 63 Agents joining this program. Expecting more Airlines & Agents to participate DIP in 2004.

The Suvarnabhumi Airport has been designated as the Aviation Hub of Southeast Asian Region upon its operation in 2005. It is expected to be a contributive factor in supporting and stimulating rapid development of the tourism, economic, social and other aspects of the country which will benefit the whole nation. The Government, therefore, has placed this Airport Project as the“National Agenda”to be completed as targeted.

Passenger Terminal - 563,000 sq. meters - Serving 45 million passenger annually Runway - Two parallel runways, each is 60 meters wide, 3700 and 4,000 meters long with a runway separation distance of 2,200 meters. - 76 flights per hour capacity 3. Aircraft-Stands - 51 contact gates - 69 remote parking 4. Air Traffic Control Tower - 132 meters Tower 5. Parking Garages - 2 parking garages, with a capacity for 5,000 cars 6. Air Freight Service - The Customs free zone is approximately 568,000 square meters.The entrepreneur can move, prepare or pack import or export cargo within the area 24 hours a day. 7. Aircraft Maintenance Facilities - 4 fully equipped aircraft hangars - To service up to 12 aircrafts simultaneously 8. Catering Facilities - 3 separate catering facilities - To cater 65,000 airlines meals per day 9. Landside Road System - 2x2 lane road inside the airport with the total length of 36 K.M. 10. Utility System - Water tank with a capacity of 40,000 cm3 - Water treatment system with can treat 12,000 cm3 of water per day - Main transformer station which can transform electricity from 115 kv to 24 kv - Solid waste collection system which consists of eight garbage collection stations - Telephone System which consists of seven telephone exchanges and two main exchanges 11. Country Economic update In general, Thailand has more or less climbed up from the crisis and past critical situations with the blessings from the growth of local economy, and the main strategy to make all the possible changes are from the policies of the present Thai Government leading by most of the successful businessmen, especially; our Prime Minister Dr. Lt. Thaksin Shinawatra who believes in using moving-forward policy instead of wait-and-see as previously being. Many public medias, and newspapers are in the stage of complementing the overall investment climates, and further forecast has been under positive direction as such being publicized by BangkokPost, one of the English-daily newspaper in Thailand. “quote” The economic policies promoted by the government have laid the groundwork for growth rooted in domestic consumption. The country has been better insulated as a result from some of the external shocks that have affected its regional neighbours. And as shocks go, the war in Iraq and the panic caused by Sars did their share to put a damper on optimism in the first half of the year. Thailand's heroic consumers held on to their wallets more tightly until they could gauge how great the impact would be. As it turned out, most sectors of the economy rode out the two storms, with the exception of tourism, an industry heavily dependent on the confidence of travellers worldwide. Other economic sectors are adjusting their success strategies to tap growing domestic markets while adapting to tougher challenges abroad, be they trade barriers in the developed world or low-cost competitors in China. Against this backdrop, Thai policymakers retain their confidence that the economic growth momentum will be sufficient to lift gross domestic product by as much as 5.5% this year. It may not be the 6% that Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra has been seeking, but by comparison to the performances of other countries in the region and worldwide, Thailand can confidently lay claim to being what one US economist called ``the shining star'' in Asia this year. In the 2003 Mid-Year Economic Review, we examine what the public and private sectors have been doing to lay the groundwork for sustainable growth, with commentary from senior executives about their strategies for success “unquote”
