  1. As far as painkillers are concerned, Ibuprofen appears to be mostly harmless. Ibuprofen relieves pain from various conditions such as nasty hangovers or headaches, dental pain, menstrual cramps, sore muscle or arthritis. Ibuprofen is a no steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It blocks the production of certain natural substances that cause inflammation. It amounts to decrease in pain, swelling or fever. This is very effective when there’s arrival of first-sign of pain. If there’s chronic pain, it is hardly effective. According to doctors the normal use of Ibuprofen is generally 600mg a day or about three tablets twice a week. If Ibuprofen is rampantly used for relieving pain on a long-term basis; it has its share of side- effects and not to use it frequently or regular. The following side-effects may arise out of rampant and long-term use; 1. The decrease in Sperm Generation The study published about the proceedings of National Academics of Sciences talks of taking 600mg of Advil or NSAIDs per day for 6 weeks or three tablets of Ibuprofen per day can generate a medical problem called compensated hypogonadism, a situation that decreases sperm generation and impairs fertility.

  2. 2. Problems in Erection Long-term use of Ibuprofen can bring problems in maintaining the erection because Advil or NSAIDs decrease the release of prostaglandin, a chemical that plays a major role in erection. The people suffering from erectile dysfunction (ED) take Prostaglandin injections. Advil adversely affect erection if taken rampantly. 3. Create Heart Burning and Stomach Problems: Post work out muscle burn is good, but when it comes to Post-Advil heartburn, it’s not so much. At times, after taking tablets, there’s disorder in the stomach, you should imagine that Ibuprofen is blocking the release of prostaglandin which protects the stomach against stomach acid. Frequent use of Advil can irritate the stomach lining and cause heartburn and pain in stomach. Advil also contains an NSAID which cause severe stomach bleeding if used on a long-term and regular use.

  3. 4. Bring More Headache It may sound counter-productive. But if use Ibuprofen more than 3 or 4 times a week for relieving from a headache, you may give rise to more headaches according to researchers. Doctors are still unclear why rebound headaches occur, but it’s common for people who have a habit of taking NSAIDs. The chronic exposure to NSAIDs can lead to changes in hormones and inhibitory pathways that bring constant feelings of head pain. 5. Ringing in Ears Researchers have found that high doses of NSAIDs like Ibuprofen can bring “Tinnitus”, that is a condition of ringing in the ears. That is in both animals and humans. These arise because of the death of some hearing cells. It fades away after you stop taking such drugs.

  4. 6. Nasty Reactions in Skin As Ibuprofen blocks many pathways of the body, it can cause allergic reactions, including rashes as a result of overuse. It happens due to the entrance of foreign chemicals by the use of excess Ibuprofen, so the body comes up with ant-bodies against it. 7. Swelling Prostaglandin works to promote sodium excretion and blood flow to the kidneys. If your body fails to excrete excess sodium, it could end up swelling in different parts of the body.
