  1. Mark 10:17-22 17 Now as He was going out on the road, one came running, knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do that I may inherit eternal life?” 18 So Jesus said to him, “Why do you call Me good? No one is good but One, that is, God. 19 You know the commandments: ‘Do not commit adultery,’ ‘Do not murder,’ ‘Do not steal,’ ‘Do not bear false witness,’ ‘Do not defraud,’ ‘Honor your father and your mother.’” 20 And he answered and said to Him, “Teacher, all these things I have kept from my youth.” 21Then Jesus, looking at him, loved him, and said to him, “One thing you lack: Go your way, sell whatever you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, take up the cross, and follow Me.” 22 But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.

  2. Mark 10:23-27 23 Then Jesus looked around and said to His disciples, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God!” 24 And the disciples were astonished at His words. But Jesus answered again and said to them, “Children, how hard it is for those who trust in riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And they were greatly astonished, saying among themselves, “Who then can be saved?” 27 But Jesus looked at them and said, “With men it is impossible, but not with God; for with God all things are possible.”

  3. What is Your “ONE THING”? If Jesus pointed to “One Thing” you lack, what would it be?

  4. Identifying your “ONE THING” God Knows Your Heart! Do You?

  5. In Part 1… • We acknowledged that God knows our hearts, and reflected upon whether we honestly know them • We challenged our rationales for why we don’t do things we know are our responsibility to do for God • We concluded with three critical questions for our consideration What Did You Learn About Yourself?

  6. Some “ONE THINGS” To Consider Perhaps Your “One Thing” is Among Them?

  7. Bitterness Jesus Might Say: “Go and forgive those from whom you have withheld your forgiveness, to include yourself, take up your cross and follow Me.” • Ephesians 4:21 • Hebrews 12:15 • Matthew 6:14-15

  8. Fear Jesus Might Say: “Go and do that terrifying thing I have asked you to do, trusting Me to help you do it, take up your cross and follow Me.” • Matthew 10:28 • Hebrews 13:6 • Luke 12:32 • 2 Cor. 10:12, 18

  9. Humility Jesus Might Say: “Go and admit that you have been wrong, seek the necessary forgiveness, take up your cross and follow Me.” • 1 Corinthians 10:12 • Proverbs 16:18 • 1 Peter 5:5-7

  10. Self-Control Jesus Might Say: “Go and cut off your right hand, take up your cross and follow Me.” • Matthew 5:27-30 • Acts 24:25 • Galatians 5:22-23 • 2 Peter 1:5-7

  11. Integrity Jesus Might Say: “Go and live honestly with yourself and men, take up your cross and follow Me.” • Proverbs 10:9 • Proverbs 11:3 • Proverbs 19:1 • Proverbs 20:7 • Proverbs 28:6 • Titus 2:7 • Luke 19:1-10

  12. Romans 8:35-39 35Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 As it is written: “For Your sake we are killed all day long; We are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” 37 Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, 39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
