  1. Emergency Warning System (EWS) - Collaboration between IEEE-SA & CSeON (GISFI) GISFI Meeting, New Delhi 24 Sept 2013

  2. EWS: IEEE-SA/CSeONCollaboration • Emergency Warning System • IEEE-SA ComSoc Standards Board had initiated an activity driven by S Madanapalli (iRAM technologies) to identify gaps and possibility of new standards development; IEEE-SA created a study group in 2012 • CSeON (part of GISFI) technical group is also focusing on the EWS project and has made progress • GISFI has been working on this activity for about 9-12 months engaging with stakeholders • Desire for IEEE-SA & GISFI to collaborate on common activities • Many of the stakeholders working in both the projects would be common • Good opportunity to collaborate • GISFI through its CSeON (Cloud Service Oriented Networks) can bring in the experts to this forum • Use of robust, already established process within IEEE Standards Association to drive the standards development activities

  3. EWS: Proposal for Collaboration • IEEE Communication Society sponsors standards through the IEEE ComSoC SDB (Standards Board Development) • IEEE ComSoc has 3 Standards Sponsors: COM/SDB, COM/PLC, COM/DySPAN-SC • Proposal to create Cloud Service Oriented Networks (CSeON) from GISFI as a standards committee (SC) within ComSoc • SC can be created as part of one of the sponsors mentioned above • SC will oversee working groups with related projectsand scopes • Policy & Procedures will be derived out of the sponsor • Consideration of SC becoming a Sponsor can be considered with Standards Association Standards Board approval later • This will allow GISFI to preserve their structure through CSeON while developing standards under IEEE standards process • IEEE-SA study group(*) or working group to be created once PAR is approved • Publishing of the standards under IEEE Standards Association
