The ABCXXI Foundation aims to support the psychological, mental, and moral health of children and adolescents through awareness, education, and promotion of wise education. They organize various programs such as Reading Schools and Reading Kindergartens, Reading Heals, and Reading Brings Closeness. Their flagship project is the "First Book of My Baby" campaign, which provides free educational-cultural packages to parents of newborns, consisting of a book, a DVD, and research on child development. They also organize the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Literary Competition and collaborate with Polish communities abroad and other European countries in promoting reading.

Foundation in numbers 7985 leaders and coordinators -volunteers of the reading campaign „All of Poland Reads to Kids” 3072 cities and villages participating in the reading campaign 2769 schools and 3112 kindergartens enrolled to "Reading Schools and Reading Kindergartens programs 85%-92% parents (% depending on age of childen) knows the Foundation’s reading campaign 54% parents declare regular reading to their children 200 educational conferences, workshops and seminars conducted by the Foundation 130 jails were equipped with children books to read to children by imprisoned parents 78000 mothers of newborns will obtain the First Book of My Baby in 2013

  6. „First Book of My Baby” project First Book of My Baby – project of free distribution among all mothers of newborns in public and private obstetric hospitals/clinics throughout the country of the educational-cultural package consisting of a book with information for parents and poems to be read to newborns along with a DVD with educational film and lullabies. The project will be accompanied with research on its effect on child’s development. Number of births: around 400 000 yearly. The aim of the project: First Book of My Baby gives parents knowledge and tools to support childs language, mental and emotional development and a passion to read.It is extremely important because current decerease of children’s language and thinking skills as well as dramatic drop in their reading abilities will limit their chances for development and education. European Union and international community of reading-oriented institutions put early language education as their current priority!

Other projects of the Foundation Astrid Lindgren Memorial Literary Competition for a Contemporary Book for Children and Adolescents • Announced every three years; till the moment three competitions have been organized (the third edition will conclude in October’13 with publication and promotion of eight awarded books in three age cathegories). • Very prestigeous in the community of authors, publishers, book specialists – high awards, the pledge of publishing all awarded books, high literary level. • The best authors of books for children participated e.g. Marcin Szczygielski, Anna Onichimowska, Paweł Beręsewicz, Barbara Kosmowska, Renata Piątkowska; interesting debuts e.g. Ida Pierelotkin. Other projects of the Foundation Internet University of Wise Education (IUWE) • free knowledge in the field of psychology, pedagogy, philosophy, sociology etc. on www.iumw.pl • e-learning courses (free or partially/fully paid depending on sponsors’ support) on the IUWE Moodle platform: for teachers – Reading as a Method of Development and Eduacation – Teaching Values as a Profilaxis of Abuse and Antisocial Behaviors for parents: – Meeting Emotional Needs of Children – Raising Boys – Feeding Brain and Body - How to Avoid Prevalent Parental Mistakes Partners: Orange Foundation, PZU Foundation

Other projects of the Foundation „Generations – Creations” and „We Need Each Other” • Integration of children from orphanages and seniors from the Third Age Universities during common cultural and artistic activities: joint visits to the theatre performances, movies, concerts and exhibitions, then participation in common music and drama workshops as well as cooking and computer classes, with the final gala – common show/performance in front of local audience in which all participants of the project play their roles. Book as a Bridge to Family and the World with no Bars”; Education for mothers having their little children with them in jail • Classes on wise child-rearing, emotional intelligence and drama for mothers • Supporting with books corners for reading to children in the family meeting halls • Supporting with books prisons’ libraries. • Educational conferences for prisons’ staff.
