  3. Characters

  4. Conflict • True son must go back to the white settler camp due because the white and Indian signed a treaty that all captives must returned to there people including true son and he goes back to the white settlers camp and he refuses to live in a cruel way like the white settlers and he tries to escape andhe also tries to help his friends escape too.

  5. Summary of Plot • True son refuses to leave his old life as an Indian and face his new life as a white settler so he tries to escape the town and plans to attack the village and he also wants to return and live with his Indian father.

  6. Theme • Indian freedom versus white civilization. • Being stuck in this camp is like being captured. Pg 24 • True son looks for a root of a oak tree to be free from the white civilization. Pg 18 • True son thought wearing different clothes is like phasing different religion. Pg 26

  7. Point of View • If The author would have 1st person view on true son than view on anyone else, it would be for example (I didn’t want to change my ways of life) instead of (true son didn’t want to change his ways of life).

  8. Symbolism • The light in the forest symbolizes hope of escaping into freedom to true son that he can achieve what he must complete.

  9. Recommendation • It is memorable, the author tells the story with a glowing passion for unspoiled nature. I would say it’s a extremely interesting book of a boy who must make a intense choices.
