Canada U.S. Underground Railroad Bicycle Route Underground Railroad was a network of safe houses and clandestine routes that were created to aid black slaves in their escape from southern American states. They could then travel to the north and even Canada through these safe houses. The Adventure Cycling Association transformed parts of this network into a 2,057-mile (3310km) cycle track that runs from Mobile Alabama to the east coast of the United States, ending at Owen Sound. This epic ride is steeped in history. It takes you through archetypal American landscapes and stops at historic sites where you can learn about the people who made the journey.
Centennial Trail in South Dakota Centennial Trail is 111 miles (178kms), of biking through iconic American scenery that can sometimes make it feel like you are transported to the Old West. The trail includes rolling grasslands, prairies, thick forests, and buttes. It also offers the opportunity to ride to Custer State park. There are serene sections around Sheridan Lake and Pactola Lake. There are many difficulty levels on the trail. There will be sections of road and path that are very easy, but you’ll soon find yourself climbing up steep inclines before making your descent.
