  1. THE FACTORS EFFCTING GOOGLE RANKING Google rankings take pole position when it comes to any websites or marketing from an owner’s point of view. The sole purpose of creating a website is to be visible to a vast majority of people. That can only be possible if you are on top of the charts in the search engine rankings. The website gets premium exposure and the content is shared left, right and centre every single day of the week. It is any creator’s dream to be sitting on that high throne. Every single plan, every strategy and every effort you make are all intended to serve one purpose and that is to be recognized by Google. The acknowledgment only comes if your website has quality. And by quality I mean, everything. Starting from the domain name to the complex of minute details like HTTPS could have an effect on the rankings either positive or negative. Often the website owners place their emphasis on the well-known or the popular categories like the content, backlinks etc. while it is important to take good care of those things, it is still of utmost importance that you look after the details like the layout, the background colour etc. to pull new customers to the website and also to sustain the existing ones. In the modern day-and-age where everything is lightspeed, it is vital that you spend enough time to strategize and come up with innovative ideas to optimize the website in an attempt to attract the audience rather than trying to keep pace with your competitors all the time. Keeping up with the competitors is important but, not at the cost of sabotaging your entire strategy just because you have to deliver earlier than the rest. The ranking is not just confined to the website as a whole, it can be done individually on the basis of web pages. A website need not be on top of the rankings for its pages to be ranked highly. How does Google rank websites? Google uses the PageRank (PR) algorithm to rank the websites in the search engine results. This algorithm was famously named after one of the founders of Google, Larry Page. It measures the importance of each and every website which helps in the ranking process. The algorithm takes into account the number of links and the quality of those links on each and every page calculating the approximate importance those pages possess. The wider belief is that the more important the website, the better the quality of the links. Although the PageRank algorithm is not the only algorithm that Google employs to rank the search engine results, it is the first and definitely the best-known. Lets now look at some of the factors that affect Google ranking 1. Content Content is the basis and the foundation for everything that revolves around a website. It is not just confined to the domains, content plays a

  2. crucial part in the AdWords, marketing campaigns and what not. A proper well-researched content can take you the distance more than any of the advertising campaigns ever could. It represents what you stand for and what you offer. Content gives a chance to the audience to have an in- depth look at the products and services that a company provides. It is informative allowing the clients to gain knowledge about what exactly the organization stands for. Content should be a place where the clients can come and clear the air around anything they are skeptical about in regards to the products and services you offer. It should be a place of education for all the visiting clients lulling them into wanting to come back again. The least an organization can do with the content is • enough terms without being too bland. Make it readable for all the users. Present the content in simple • think he could come back for further more information. Reliability is a big factor. Provide information that makes the user • anything and everything. Whatever you produce should be relatable and noteworthy. The relevancy of the content also matters. You can’t stuff up When done right, content can boost the conversion rates of the organization. One can only do so much bringing in the traffic to the landing page or the homepage by all the marketing campaigns, the onus is then on the website to convert them into leads and further, customers. The content’s value to a website cannot be undermined, it is probably the most significant thing one can do. 2. Backlinks Backlinks have a huge influence on the way Google ranks the websites or it’s webpages. Over the years, it was widely believed that the more the number of backlinks to a website, the higher the chance of being on top of the search results. While it was true to an extent, Google still prefers 10 quality backlinks from a well diverse and authoritative domains over a 20 mediocre ones. Google’s algorithms will determine the relevancy of the backlinks based on the content you produce, what your website stands for and the domains you have been linked. The prominent thing is, try and make sure the content you produce is top- notch. Then, share this content as much as possible. Don’t be redundant. Find various headlines and share it relentlessly. Ultimately, you are bound to catch the eye of a few and they begin to link your content on their domains. Google will notice this and it will consider your content to be relevant. This results in a higher ranking. Google bases its judgement on three key criteria

  3. The number of backlinks is of utmost importance. It is no good having a couple of decent links to good domains. The quantity matters especially when you are trying to climb up the all- important search ranking ladder. Link authority is another major factor. The domains which have linked your pages must be valid and relevant. Google employs algorithms and bots to check for the relevancy. Link diversity is the number of different links you have attained. Redundancy of links is taken into account and that has a sizeable bearing on the rankings.    Link building is a subjective topic. Many people have many different ways of building their link profiles. The principle for all of them remains the same though, create optimum content and promote it. Instead of just sitting back and letting your content take care of the links, you can monitor those links. Get to know what are relevant and what need to be vanished. The best thing you can do is, find out all the spammy links and get rid of them. Ultimately, these are the links that are preventing you from going further. 3. Mobile friendly interface As the world is evolving you must evolve with it else you will be down in the dumps. One of the biggest revolutions of the modern age has been the evolution of mobile phone. Everybody has a mobile phone. Everybody can connect to the internet. And if your website doesn’t fit the modern mobile, you are missing out big time. The biggest clue Google gave away was its shift towards mobile-first indexing in 2016 which means Google will now primarily crawl through the mobile website as opposed to the desktop versions. All the websites, web pages or landing pages designed primarily for the desktop may not be compatible with the mobiles. The size matters. The ads you place on a desktop can end up being too big for a mobile. Hence, it has to be optimized in a way that the mobile users don’t find all the forms and advertisements you put in place intimidating. Rather they should be a gentle reminder. The days of the desktop being the primary means of accessing the internet are long gone. Mobiles have taken over and are now ruling the roost. Every time an interface is being designed for a website, mobile has to be the primary place of concentration rather than an afterthought to the desktop. The mobiles are always with us, always awaiting an action and can connect to the internet pretty much from anywhere. These are only a few reasons to state that mobiles are more powerful than the age-old computers. The conversions that are happening on the mobiles have sky-rocketed over the past few years. It

  4. is easy to look past the mobile-friendly interface and focus on the desktop versions but, it would be a big error in judgment missing out on such a rapidly growing base. If you go by the trends, the future will be taken over by the handheld devices. Not just that, if the mobile interface of the website is poor, you are giving a solid reason to the clients to not come back. The mobile is at the heart of everything essential a man does on a day-to-day basis making it all the more reason to have a good mobile interface. Here are a few things that could make your mobile website better • Improve the responsiveness. • Don’t flood the timeline with excessive ads. • Reduce the size of the forms. • Attend to the size of the images and other visual media. • Carry the same message as the desktop version. • Align the content relative to the mobile. • Adjust the menus. Adopt a script that could read the size of the screen when the link is clicked and accordingly showcase the website. With a mobile-friendly interface, the conversion rates will increase to no length and higher is the chance of climbing the Google ranking ladder. Google nowadays doesn’t just confine it’s crawling to the desktops, it goes through the mobile sites as well. The website only stands a chance if it is good at both ends of the spectrum. Gone are the days you just focus on a single platform. This is because of the fact that Google is well aware that most of the clicks come from the mobiles. Due to its portability, mobile can get you clicks from the remotest of places. It is about time you jump on the bandwagon and start cashing in. 4. Page Speed One of the most important things any website or a web page for that matter is a quick response speed. The last thing the customer wants after logging onto your pages is for it to take ages to load. A slow page load can act as a repulsion and turn away all the customers. It will suck all the patience out of the prospects and they will never come back. The page speed could also depend on the customer’s bandwidth and the internet speed but, if it is happening to a wider audience across several parts of the globe then, it is time to dig deep and find the underlying problems.

  5. On the other hand, if the page speed is good, it could act as a pro inviting the customers to come back for more. Even if the website is pretty and has a good look and feel about it, the speed could make or break the website. If the website isn’t as fast as you want it to be, it could put all your efforts at risk. A website which has a slow page speed has a very high percentage of bounce rate. Bounce rate is the percentage of people who exit the website within 5-10 seconds against the total number of visitors. A high bounce rate means customers are not finding your page attractive or relative to what they are looking for. The speed of the page has a big part to play in this because if the page is not loading within 10 seconds of the click, the client is bound to quit the site. He doesn’t even get a chance to have a look at the actual interface of the website thus putting all the efforts you make at risk. Google uses PageSpeed to measure the accurate loading time of your website and all the web pages. If the website has a low page load time, it will go a long way in placing your website on the elite list. The page speed alone cannot elevate your status but it can certainly do the negative damage. Trying to find out the reasons for the lagging in page load time can be a tricky business. We present you some of the reasons that could cause the slow page speed. • The number of HTTP requests. • Lack of categorization of the files. • No compression audit. • The server response time. • Fault in the script. • Wrong hosting option. • JavaScript loading A website with fast load speed can have a positive impact in terms of Google rankings. On the flip side, lack of speed could be a massive downer and it is definitely something that needs to be looked after. Other factors that have an impact on the rankings include  Schema code: The Schema code is especially important to small- scale businesses who deploy SEO on not a wide range. The Schema mark-up code will help Google in getting a better understanding of particular texts, numbers, comments, reviews, addresses and more.  Brand Power: The more traffic your website gets to form the branded searches, the higher is the recognition from Google. The

  6. Google’s search algorithm has a strong connection with the branded searches.  Social Signals: It is well documented that the more traffic you get from the social platforms, the higher is the chance of higher search rankings. Social signals thus play a vital role in increasing the rankings. Google rankings is a premium thing for any business and to rank among the best you got to follow the best habits. What better ones than the aforementioned.
