  2. Imagine your class functioning at its best. • What are students doing? • How are they arranged? • What are they learning? Warm Up

  3. What are students doing? How are they doing it? Modes of Math Class: How do you know if you are successful in class today?

  4. Group Work x Introduction: I will learn about the concept of dilation and will investigate the characteristics that figures share if they have the same shape.

  5. Individual x Discovery: I will learn that multiplying lengths of figures by a scale factor produces a similar figure.

  6. Partner x Practice: I will examine the ratio of the perimeters of similar figures.

  7. Group Work x Application: I will apply proportional reasoning and learn how to write similarity statements.

  8. “Give more independent work. There was too much groupwork that I wasn’t able to self-reflect.” • ”Allow us to practice using learned formulas in class. More application, less discovery.” • “With hard work you can be really good at math and if you take the time you can really understand it.” - student taking my class for the 2nd time. • “It wasn’t easy but I’m glad that I did my best.” • “The class was interesting, the thing I liked most was group projects.” • “Work more on the board, a lot of people benefited from that.” Some quotes from my course evaluations:
