  3. i-MATH Project

  4. Aims • Ingenio MATHEMATICA (i-MATH) is a CONSOLIDER singular research project for the period 2006-2011. • It proposes a complete activity research program for Spanish mathematics, with the purpose of promoting and carrying out strategic actions that, qualitatively and quantitatively, increase the presence of Spanish mathematics in the international system of science, technology, business, etc. • i-MATH is an initiative promoted and financed by the Spanish Ministry of Education and Science with a budget of 7,500,000 €. • The official start of the i-MATH project is the 3rd of October, 2006 and the end is the 30th of April, 2012.

  5. Aims • To improve the role of mathematical research in the Spanish system of science, technology and innovation. • To increase and promote the activities of transference of knowledge and technology of the Spanish mathematicians. • To promote the use of computational methods both inside and outside mathematical research. • To achieve greater recognition for Spanish research groups at an international level and to increase the presence of Spanish mathematicians in strategic areas. • To create a Doctorate School of international status. • To use research and innovation to improve education and mathematical training at all levels. • To make the results of mathematical research more accessible both from within and from outside Mathematics.

SERVICE OF SUPPORT TO THE ORGANIZATION OF ENCOUNTER AND MEETINGS (SARE):This service is open to thematic meetings of different types: Exploratory meetings, Modelling Weeks, Forums ‘Mathematics-Company of Mathematica Consulting’, etc. SERVICE OF SUPPORT TO THE INSTITUTES OF RESEARCH AND THE THEMATIC NETWORKS (SAIRT): Supporting Research Institutes and Thematic Networks created as the result of alliances of different research groups belonging to i-MATH. MATHEMATICA WEB: Increasing the accessibility of the results of the mathematical research.

  8. Nodes Node CIEM: The International Centre of Mathematical Meetings (CIEM) a joint initiative of the University of Cantabria and the Castro Urdiales Town Hall with the principal founding purpose of promoting quality mathematical research in its basic, applied and computational aspects. Node CRM: The Mathematical Research Centre (CRM) is a consortium formed by the Catalonia Generalitat and the Institut d’Estudis Catalans. The purpose of the CRM is to foment mathematical research both qualitatively and quantitatively. Node ICM: Joint institute between CSIC and three universities in Madrid: UAM, UCM and UC3M. Its purpose is to develop high-level research. Node IMUB: Institute created in the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Barcelona. Coordinator node of the Platform MATHEMATICA COMPUTING. Node CESGA: Composed of research teams in areas of the National Applied Mathematics, Statistics and Operations Research from the three Galician universities coordinated by the CESGA. Increase the presence of mathematical methods and techniques in the productive sectors. Coordinator node of the Platform MATHEMATICA CONSULTING and collaborator node in COMPUTING MATHEMATICA contributor.
