    3. What does MLC do MLC purpose AUP enforcement Cannot change AUP – that is SC. MLC can make suggestions Make the ML more useful

    4. Current AUP 1) Discussion will focus on Internet operational and technical issues as described in the charter of NANOG 2) Postings of issues inconsistent with the charter are prohibited. 3) Postings to multiple mailing lists are discouraged. 4) Postings that include foul language, character assassination, and lack of respect for other participants are prohibited. 5) Blatant product marketing is unacceptable. 6) Postings of political, philosophical, and legal nature are discouraged. 7) Postings to the list must be made using real, identifiable names and addresses, rather than aliases.

    5. AUP Updates? Autoresponders (including challenge-response) to be forbidden – no consensus on NANOG-36

    6. MLC policies Discussed on nanog-futures New policy on the general AUP enforcement protocol Flexibility vs not being seen as capricious AUP enforcement is not done very frequently

    7. Nanog-L statistics nanog-list 8284 subscribers (vs 8012 year ago) nanog-digest 1386 subscribers nanog-announce is 708 subscribers Approx 1000 msgs/month (between 10 and 100 per day) vs 600-700 a year ago Per-thread statistics: TBD

    8. MLC process Warnings: Who gets to warn – any MLC member How warning is appealed – to MLC Ban: Who gets to ban: full MLC, majority vote Appeal to SC

    9. MLC is YOU MLC is currently very conservative MLC follows the will of community Occasionally heated debates – we all have our personal opinions about the usual posters MLC is not the list police – we expect community to self-moderate MLC needs to hear from YOU

    10. ML future Signal-to-noise ratio low – what can we do to improve Guiding the conversation without stifling the discussion AUP enforcement tools (warning/ban) not effective in increasing SNR.
