  1. Improved Flow of Transportation with Well Improved Flow of Transportation with Well- -Designed Platforms on on Sengkang Sengkang Stations Stations Designed Platforms SMRT, renowned for its excellence in public transportation, brings a whole new level of hassle-free travel to commuters in Singapore. Thanks to SMRT's efficient and economically sound public transport system, people can now navigate different destinations within Singapore more conveniently than ever before. Under the leadership of SMRT Chairman, Mr. Seah Moon Ming, this transportation network continues to expand and enhance its efficiency, benefiting countless commuters. In this article, we highlight how commuters' travel experience through the Sengkang LRT will be significantly improved with the long-awaited effective platform design, enabling seamless transfers. SBT, in collaboration with LTA, is working to create a better train station, enhancing the daily commute for passengers. Enhancing Platforms at Sengkang LRT Station The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will undertake the necessary upgrades of the Sengkang LRT station platforms for both the East and West loops to facilitate smoother movements of commuters entering and exiting. Platforms will be designated separately for the East and West LRT lines, with trains stopping at every two platforms. Currently, the Sengkang LRT Station is designed with a single platform system, where both loops of the line are served by one platform each, in either a clockwise or anticlockwise direction. At Platform 1 or 2, commuters waiting for a West Loop train share the same platform space with those queueing for an East Loop train. This setup emphasizes shared platforms for both trains, with colored lines separating waiting areas. Additional Enhancements at the Station Residents of Sengkang and Punggol will benefit from reduced waiting times due to the addition of 25 new 2-car trains to the LRT network, starting in 2024. LTA has announced that these 2-car LRT trains will replace 1-car trains, resulting in increased passenger capacity on the SPLRT network. This expansion will enable the SPLRT network to meet long-term public demand in Sengkang and Punggol towns. Additionally, the Sengkang train depot will be expanded to accommodate the extra Train Storage Facility trains required to support the growing size of SPLRT, as reported by LTA. Conclusion For years, SMRT has provided passengers in Singapore and visitors to the country with a seamless commuting experience. Enhancing operations at various train stations is crucial to the success of this public transportation system.
