  1. Packing Tips for Your Most Efficient Move Ever

  2. Every moving day has its setbacks and it's always best to have a go with the flow attitude, everything will be fine, but planning how to move has a lot to do with how well everything goes when you move in. Here are some Packaging and Planning strategies for your most organized move ever. Transform your business and manage risks with a world leader in the industry of cybersecurity consulting, cloud, and managed security services. Find out how.

  3. Pack the least used items first. When you start packing up your old place, start by packing all the items you rarely use. Start with everything in the attic and in the garage that is not already in storage bins or boxes. (Even if they are, make sure you notice it!) Next, Move on to objects in your house that are not parts of your daily life, such as books, movies, and artwork.

  4. Clear out an area to store your packed boxes before moving. If you have a garage, it's an obvious place. Since you have first packed boxes with the least necessary items, these boxes come easily on the back of your stack, which means that they are inserted into the moving truck last - just the way you want it. The boxes that were last in the truck were first stored in rooms in your new location and left under and behind the stacks at the new location, while the more important packages are stacked in front of and over them. This way you do what you can to keep boxes packed with more important items most accessible. Store packed boxes in such a way that the least used items go in the truck last.

  5. Create a color-coded label for each room in the new house/apartment. Most people who help you move, professionally or not, do not pay too much attention to written labels on boxes. In addition, the "back bedroom" can not mean much to them. But if you have each room in the new place clearly marked with a color and your boxes are all marked with this color, you dramatically increase the chance of your boxes ending up in the correct room

  6. Ask movers to place boxes in the center of the room. Try to avoid drawers stacked against walls, as this will cause extra problems if you still need to install furniture that goes against the walls

  7. Keep dresser clothes in drawers. There is absolutely no need to pack dresser clothes inboxes. To prevent clothes from getting dirty and to protect "unmentionables" from everyone's eyes, tape paper, or plastic wrap over the drawer. Insert drawers in the dresser when it is on the moving truck and remove the drawers again when you arrive at your new location.

  8. Label boxes on the top and two sides. Label each box (with the colored labels and marker!) On the top and on the short and long sides of each box. That way, every person who picks up a box from any which way knows where it goes.

  9. Have donated and discarded boxes ready when you pack. Even if you have done a good job of cleaning away before you start packing, you may be able to clean even more because you are actually putting things in inboxes. Once it's in the new location, you'll probably just place it somewhere, but if you make quick decisions when packing, you may be able to clear your belongings even more than you have.

  10. Pay special track to screws and parts for furniture that you need to disassemble. If you need to disassemble furniture, insert the screws in the Ziplocs and mark them well. Put all these bags in a special box - one that you can easily access as soon as you are in the new place because you will probably start assembling furniture early in your installation process.

  11. Keep a numbered spreadsheet showing the contents of boxes and bins. If unpacking will be slow for you (for example, you will be working full time as soon as your feet hit the ground or if you have a child), you may need to be able to find specific items quickly without flipping through multiple boxes. For this type of situation, also label boxes with numbers and create a spreadsheet that describes the contents of each numbered box.

  12. Pack one bag overnight for each family member. Pack a suitcase for the moving-in evening. This should include toiletries and a change of clothes for each family member, along with other essentials like a cell phone charger, medication, and perhaps a favorite book or activity.

  13. Along with the previous point, think through your sleeping arrangements for the first night or two at your new place. Will the beds be set up? Are you just going to sleep on mattresses? Air mattresses? Get the bedding or sleeping bags and pillows you need and store them in an easily accessible place and make sure they don't get lost in the moving shuffle. Pack bedding where you can easily grab it to make the beds for your first night in the new place.
