Things to Remember • Residency During Placement - Please put on application (if information changes notify STEP office immediately) • Students will be placed in district that is within 35 miles of TCNJ. Students needing to reside at home must get approval from their program advisor that a field supervisor can be secured. If not, a student must make different residency accommodations. • Students will not be placed in their home district. • All students will be placed in a variety of settings Urban, Suburban or Rural to ensure diverse teaching experiences. • While some students may have a slightly delayed start date in their placement, there is a 100% placement rate. • For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

  6. Once Placement is Obtained It is the student’s responsibility to: • Read your TCNJ emails. Your placement email will explain which clearances your district requires you to send. • Post a copy of all your clearance and information documents to LiveText. This can help speed up the placement process if issues occur with a placement. • Occasionally, districts will contact students to arrange interviews. Be prompt with responding. • Reach out to the district for questions regarding placement start dates. • For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

  7. Application Packet • REVIEW • Submit to your Department: • Printed and signed application • Resume • Copy of your negative Mantoux Test (TB) Results • Copy Fingerprinting and Background Check Results • Copy of Substitute Certificate (if available) • Copy Unofficial Transcript • For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu

  8. Global Student Information • Students interested in Global Student Teaching (GST) must complete a separate online application for the program. • GST applicants will NOT be placed in the states until after their global placement is secured. • All GST applicants are required to submit fingerprints using the Substitute Teacher option. This will archive the prints and allow them to have their results transferred when needed while overseas. It is strongly suggested that GST applicants secure a substitute certification. • For more information: STEP@tcnj.edu
