  18. Vocabulary Definitions • Write these definitions on your foldable • Solvent = in a solution, it’s the matter that dissolves the solute • Solubility= the amount of a solute that can dissolve in a solvent • Solute = in a solution, it’s the matter that gets dissolved into a solvent

  19. Solubility • Remember Solubility = an ability of a substance to dissolve • A solute’s solubility depends on : • type of solvent used • the temperature of both the solute and solvent • particle size • The most common solvent = water known as the “universal solvent”
