  3. Introduction • The way we send and receive information has received a tremendous boost from the advancements in technology. • Multimedia in an interactive learning applications is becoming an emerging trend in the communication of educational information.

  4. The multimedia-enhanced ICP

  5. Using multimedia technologies • Interactivity raised the comprehension and retention rates of the audience to about 75%, compared to the 40% rate from what they see and hear, and the 20% rate from what they see only (Lindstrom, 1994)

  6. The interactive module’s characteristics • A visual-based module that allows the user to see the concepts presented • Contains materials that allow the students to learn at his own pace • Contains interactive features that would empowerthe user to control the content and the flow of information and encourages students to be responsible for their own learning.

  7. The multimedia design process • Assembling media to represent educational content. • Digitising the analogue media. • Editing the media elements. • Multimedia authoring • Packaging for delivery on a CD-ROM, the Web or Intranet.

  10. The education challenge • To integrate these multimedia technologies into the classroom to enhance the teaching and learning environments for both the teacher and the students.

Three important factors must be taken • To make the hardware available to the educators • To make the authoring software for multimedia application creation available to these educators for the development of their multimedia materials • Bridge the gap between technology and education, and empower the teachers with the skills to use the technology effectively to create their multimedia materials and applications.
