  1. Company PresentationWorkshop on MALTA Pink GmbH Energie- und Speichertechnik Werner Pink 05.11.2009

  2. Company data (1) • Established 1989 by Hubert Pink • Family-owned SME • Certified welding company according HP0 / DIN EN 729-3 • Production-focus on tanks and vessels made of both carbon and stainless steel • Wholesale of tanks and solar-thermal systems • Engineering department • Research and development in energy-storage and absorption cooling - technology

  3. Company data (2) Employees Turnover [1.000 EUR]

  4. Storage-Tank production-program • Stainless steel boilers • Stratified solar energy storage tanks • Combined energy storage tanks • Energy storage tanks • Standard boilers • 20 to 35.000 Litres! • Maximum flexibilitydue to own production site!

  5. Thermal solar system „Pink-Solar-System“ High efficient solar system for • Room heating • Domestic hot water • Low-Flow-system • Big-module flat plate collectors • Stratified solar energy storage tank • Fresh domestic hot water production

  6. Production according to customers drawings

  7. Own development of a special calculation-software for heating-networks Heating-network engineering

  8. Research, Development an production of Absorption cooling machines up to app. 20kW cooling power Working-solution Water/Ammonia Cold out of hot water! Runs with hot water from Solar District heat Waste heat Biomass Engineering, Sales and Service of complete thermal driven systems up to 105 kW cooling power (in cooperation with SolarNext) Wide research activities on relevant machine-components (f.ex. Heat exchangers), system-components (f.ex. Recooling), hydraulics and control strategies with national and international partners. Absorption cooling technology (1)

  9. Absorption cooling technology (2) – test-bench @ Pink

  10. chillii® PSC Absorption cooling technology (3) - awards Winner Energy Globe Styria Award 2007 10 kW

  11. Thermally driven cooling Thermally driven cooling! Why?

  12. Harmful refrigerants (climate change) Electric energy consumption  CO2-emissions Black Out Grid overload Effects of compression cooling technology Electric driven compression chiller

  13. Driven by heat Environmentally friendly refrigerants Low electric energy consumption  Low CO2-emissions from power processes Low grid load Thermally driven cooling as an alternative Ab-/Adsorptionchiller

  14. Solar • Distributed heat • Waste heatfrom CHP´s Quelle: wikipedia Quelle: EC-Power Possible heat sources (selection)

  15. Comparison of the function scheme • Thermal drivenabsorption chiller • Electric drivencompression chiller

  16. Source: Adsorption Liquid sorption Absorption Dessicant Solar cooling – just a dream? Source: EURAC • Status 2009: • About 150 systems up and running in Europe • About 10 MW cooling power • About 23.000 m² solar collectors

  17. PinkChiller / chillii® PSC Absorption chiller – references (1)

  18. Absorption chiller – references (2) Sources: SolarNext (2008) Ammonia / Water chillii® PSC 10 Air Conditioning of a retirement home in Kalkara (MALTA) 38,5 m² Flat-plate collectors 1.000 l Hot-water and cold-water storage tank 10 kW Cooling power 27 kW Recooling (ground-water app. 21 °C) Realized by our local partner ecoGroup Malta, Louis Borg 5 kW

  19. Conclusion • Thermally driven cooling is a environmentally friendly alternative to the conventional technology • Both solar or waste heat are suitable for driving the machines • Absorption and Adsorption Technology are well established • Interesting new developments in the low capacity range available • Pink together with its local partner ecoGroup Malta is well prepared for further projects concerning the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies on Malta
