Yang FuDong (born 1971 in Beijing) Basic Info: • A Chinese Video Artist and Photographer who lives and works in Shanghai.  • Trained as a painter and graduated from China Academy of Fine Arts in Hangzhou in 1995. • Began working in the mediums of films and video in the 1990s. • among the most successful and influential young Chinese artists today.

His Films • Mostly portray his own generation of individuals in their late 20s and early 30s, young people who seem confused and appear to hover between the past and present. • Always focus on confused identities, unpredictable environments and the uncertainties of life. • Also emphasizes on how the recent and rapid modernization of China has overthrown traditional values and culture

Why Famous? • "Seven Intellectuals in a Bamboo Forest" has been shown at The 52nd Venice Biennalein 2007. • Solo-shows at most acclaimed institutions & galleries such as Marian Goodman Gallery, New York; Parasol Unit, London and Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam. • Contracted by Prada to direct a short film as part of the Spring/Summer 2010 Ad Campaign.
