Setting up your Google Wiki account. The procedure for logging into Google Wiki at UIC is non-obvious. The key is that you must register your e-mail address and password with “Google Sites”. Then, you log in as a “collaborator”.

  1. Setting up your Google Wiki account • The procedure for logging into Google Wiki at UIC is non-obvious. The key is that you must register your e-mail address and password with “Google Sites”. Then, you log in as a “collaborator”. • You should already have given me an e-mail address for access to the site. Your UIC address is fine, but any address will work. A gmail address works best. The Health Wiki is: http://sites.google.com/a/uic.edu/health/home You may find it useful to bookmark the address once you have gotten there

Setting up a Google Sites account, 1 • Log onto to the Wiki site: http://sites.google.com/a/uic.edu/health/home • You will get this page: • Logically you would enter your username and password. • Do not think logically. • Instead, click on   "Sign in with a different account " under the rubric "Don't have an account at University of Illinois at Chicago?”

  3. Setting up a Google Sites account, 2 . 4. After you click a blank will open: enter your complete e-mail address: 5. Click "go" to go to Google accounts / create an account

  4. Setting up a Google Sites account, 3 6.Clicking “go” sends you to this registration form. If you already have a Google account and that is the address you gave for the course, click on that… Otherwise, enter the address you provided (you can switch this later). You can make up any password here.

  5. Setting up a Google Sites account, 4 • Wait for an e-mail from Google to confirm & activate your account, as below. • Click the link to go back to Google accounts.

  6. Setting up a Google Sites account, 5 7. You should be taken to a whole different login page: put in your ID and password. This should register you. 8. When you get the verification page YOU SHOULD NOW HAVE A GOOGLE SITES ACCOUNT.

Accessing the Wiki once you are registered with Google • Go to the UIC welcome page by clicking the name of the Wiki site http://sites.google.com/a/uic.edu/health/homeor just entering it into your browser address line. • You will be sent to a log-in page. Here again you cannot just enter your ID and password (unless you are the site “owner”). • Click on the “Don’t have an account...”

  9. Accessing the Wiki, 3 5. You will be sent to “Google sites”, where you enter your name and password: • This should send you to the site. • To use the site just click on a page, then click “Comment”

  10. Accessing the Wiki, 4 • Note: you can get to the site without logging in by entering the address in your browser window. • If you do this you can read the site but not leave comments. • To leave comments you must sign in…
