Law 15. Throw-in. Method of restarting play when whole ball has crossed the touch line. Throw-in awarded to opponents of the player who last touched the ball. Requirements. Thrower must: Deliver from point where ball crossed line (within 1 yard)

  1. Law 15 Throw-in

  2. Method of restarting play when wholeball has crossed the touch line. Throw-in awarded to opponents of the player who last touched the ball.

  3. Requirements • Thrower must: • Deliver from point where ball crossed line (within 1 yard) • Face field of play with some part of body • Have part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground outside the touch line • Use both hands • Deliver ball from behind and over the head in a continuous motion

  5. BALL IS IN PLAY • WHEN ANY PART OF BALL • ENTERS THE FIELD IN THE AIR • (CUTS THE PLANE OF • THE TOUCH-LINE) • AND • HAS BEEN RELEASED FROM THE THROWER’S HANDS

Infractions • Thrower plays ball second time before ball touches another player • “Double touch” - IFK to opponents • Improperly thrown or from wrong point • Throw-in to opponents U-7/8 – Retake throw-in • Ball thrown directly into opponents’ goal • No goal - restart with goal kick • Ball thrown directly into own goal • No goal - restart with corner kick • Ball does not enter field • Retake throw-in • Ball bounces before entering field • Retake throw-in

  7. OPPONENT • MUST REMAIN AT LEAST 2-YARDS AWAY • CANNOT IMPEDE A THROW • CANNOT DISTRACT THE THROWER • BY JUMPING UP AND DOWN • OR • BY WAVING ARMS

  8. Can a player be declared offside? • Not if the player receives the ball directly from the throw-in.

  9. Law 16 Goal Kick

  10. A goal kick is awarded when the whole ball has: • Crossed the goal line in the air or on the ground • Was last touched by an attacker • A goal was not scored

  11. A goal kick is taken from anywhere in the goal area.

Restart • Ball is placed in the goal area • Any defensive player may take kick • No double touch • Whole ball must leave the penalty area, into the field, on the first touch • If ball touched prior to leaving the penalty area • Retake the goal kick • Can score goal on opponents goal • Not offside if directly receiving goal kick • Opponents must be outside of penalty area

  13. U-7/8 Goal Kick • Anywhere in goal area • Opponents past Goal Kick Line • Attacking team allowed behind the line • Ball is in play when kicked

A corner kick is awarded when the whole ball has: Crossed the goal line in the air or on the ground Was last touched by a defender A goal was not scored The corner kick is taken from the quarter-circle at the nearest corner to where the ball crossed the goal line. Corner flagpost shall not be removed or moved from a vertical position

  16. Correct positioning Incorrect position Correct positioning PLACEMENT The ball shall be placed inside the corner arc. Requirement is met if any part of the ball breaks the plane of the corner arc.

Kicker may not “double touch” the ball A goal may be scored directly from a corner kick May not declare a player offside who receives the ball directly from a corner kick Opponents must be at least 10 yards from the ball U-7/8 – 6 yards U- 9/10 – 8 yards Ball is in play when kicked and moves Ball kicked over goal line, even in arc – goal kick
