Undergraduate degree: • GS-5 • GS-7 (with overall GPA of 3.0 and higher) Graduate: • Masters degree – GS-9 • Law Degree (JD) – GS-9 • PhD – GS-11 OR Work Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, i.e.,(to qualify for the GS-7 level, applicants must have one year of work experience equivalent to the GS-5 level). 3

U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE • Summer – Grades GS- 2-5 - Target Audience - High School and above • May 26 thru Sept 30 • Qualifications: GS-1 ($10.35 per hour): There is no minimum experience or education required GS-2 ($11.63 per hour): Three months of general experience or a high school diploma GS-3 ($12.69 per hour): Six months of general experience or one year of education above high school level GS-4 (14.25 per hour): One year of general experience or two years of education above high school level GS-5 (14.43 per hour): One year of specialized experience equivalent to a GS-4 or a 4-year course of study above high school leading to a Bachelor’s degree • Requirements: Must be a student; enrolled or accepted for enrollment as degree seeking; taking at least a half-time academic, technical, or vocational course load in an accredited high school, technical vocational, 2 or 4 year college or university, graduate or professional school 5

Department of Housing and Urban Development Other Information Applicants must successfully complete the following security requirements: • A fingerprint check • A background investigation • Timeframe can range from 2-6 weeks depending on type of appointment. What is the timeline for the hiring process? • From the date that a manager identifies a vacancy to the date that an employee starts is usually 80 days. • The timeline for filling intern positions is usually shorter. • Goal for Summer interns start date is May 26, 2009 • Goal for FCIP interns start date is July 6, 2009. 7
