  5. Presenter Comments to Jigsaw Group As you read this section, use this think-sheet to make notes about how the character(s) feel, act, talk, and think. It will help you organize your thoughts before you explain your analysis to your Jigsaw group. Feelings- Naomi feels jealous. This is evident when she starts her chapter (pg. 33) and explains, “It was tough to compete with Lena, who was naturally pretty and has a very strong personality.” Actions- She invented a secret admirer named Lorelei Lumley (pg. 41) to further torment Cap with fake love notes in his locker. This tells the reader that she is desperate and will do anything to get Zach’s attention. Sayings- She tells Cap, “We’re sure you can do it,”(pg. 37) after the assembly when he says that he can’t learn everyone’s name. This shows the reader that she is manipulative and is willing to con someone just to win Zach’s affection. Thoughts- After Naomi joins Cap at the bird’s funeral, she thinks to herself, “Yet it seemed so right, and I couldn’t be sorry for that” (pg. 42). This thought gives the reader a glimpse into Naomi’s conscience to reveal that she is really kind-hearted, even though she feels pressured to treat people poorly to gain popularity. By: Mrs. Blanton

  6. The FAST Approach for Character Analysis Feelings- How does the character feel? How do you know? Actions- How is the character acting? Thoughts- What is the character thinking that let’s the reader know more about the kind of person the character is?
