  1. John 10:10 The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life. • AMPLIFIED – have and enjoy life, in abundance, to the full, till if overflows • Philippians 3:12 "Not that I have already obtained it, or have already become perfect, but I press on in order that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus."

  2. Rich and Satisfied • Spiritual well-being • Emotional well-being • Physical well-being • Social well-being • Financial well-being • Life purpose fulfillment

  3. Possessing Financial Well-Being Possessing the Promised Land

  4. I. Defined • Finances – a medium of exchange for goods and services • To function in natural realm • Sometimes an obstacle for spiritual realm • Romans 4:1-8 • Wages for your work • Obstacle to grace • Misunderstood as the basis of prosperity

  5. Financial Well-being defined – the access to the resources needed at the time they are needed • I have a paper record of your account • I have your access code

  6. II. Accounts and Access • Matthew 6:19-34 • Treasures stored up in heaven • Wherever your treasure is there the desires of your heart will be • Don’t worry about everyday life • Food and drink • Clothes • Dominate the thoughts of unbelievers • God will certainly take care of you

  7. Access code – seek the kingdom of God above all else and live righteously • Account - He will give you everything you need

  8. Philippians 4:15-19 • Access Code – Financial support for the gospel • Not that I want a gift from you • I want you to receive the reward (NASB – I seek for the profit which increases to your account) • Your gifts are a sacrifice, pleasing to God • Account – God will supply all your needs from His glorious riches, given to us in Christ Jesus

  9. Does it ever go beyond needs? • 2 Corinthians 9:6-10 • Access code – generosity • Access code – cheerful giving • Account – God will provide everything you need and plenty left over to share with others

  10. Account – God supplies seed to sow (for giving)

  11. and bread to eat (for consuming)

  12. III. Stewardship – Financial Management • Stewardship is the balance of giving and consuming • God supplies seed to sow and bread to eat • You must decide in your heart how much to give • Where your treasure is there your heart is also • Train your children in a heart to seek first the kingdom of God

  13. Luke 16:10-13 • Faithful in few – faithful in much • If you are untrustworthy about worldly wealth who will trust you with the true riches of heaven? • You cannot serve both God and money

  14. James 4:1-3 • You scheme to get what you want • You don’t have what you want because you don’t ask God for it • Even when you ask you don’t get it – your motives are all wrong

  15. 1 Timothy 6:17-19 "Instruct those who are rich in this present world not to be conceited or to fix their hope on the uncertainty of riches, but on God, who richly supplies us with all things to enjoy. 18 Instruct them to do good, to be rich in good works, to be generous and ready to share, 19 storing up for themselves the treasure of a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is life indeed."

  16. Ideal Deal • The reality gap • Ideal – all needs met and abundance Real • Real – not all are • Testing? • Proving for what is ahead? • Deal – stay faithful

  17. Psalms 73 – stay faithful

  18. Reflection Time • Is your financial well-being in the ideal condition or somewhere less than that? What do you need to do to lay hold of your financial well-being • What does your heart treasure? The kingdom of God or this world? (Examine your financial records to answer this question.) • How are you stewarding the seed and the bread? How are you imparting this stewardship to your children for their financial well-being?
