These compact, high performance motor part-sets use high slot-to-pole ratios and couple the motor's rotor directly to the load, without the need for gearing. This approach eliminates errors due to mechanical friction/backlash and is ideally suited for applications where rapid starts/stops, high acceleration and low speed precision motion are required. The brushless versions of this technology are being used in a variety of smart weapons platforms, battlefield management systems and medical applications.
