  2. 1:00 Es la una.

  3. 2:00 Son las dos.

  4. 3:00 Son lastres.

  5. 4:30 Son lascuatro y media.

  6. 5:15 Son lascinco y cuarto.

  7. 6:45 Son lassietemenoscuarto

  8. 8:20 Son lasocho y veinte.

  9. 9:50 Son lasdiezmenosdiez.

  10. Use “es la” when you want to say one o’clock , use “son las” when you want to say any time other than one o’clock. Es la una y cuarto.(It’s a quarter past one,) Son lassietemenosdiez. (It’s ten minutes to seven.)

  11. When telling time, you use the expression “y” up to and including thirty minutes past the hour and you use “menos” when you pass thirty minutes past the hour and you subtract from the coming hour.Son las dos y diez ( It’s two ten)Son lastresmenosveinticinco. (It’s twenty-five to three.)

  12. The following expressions are useful in indicating the time of day: de la mañana = in the morning de la tarde = in the afternoon de la noche = in the evening/at night Son lasdiez de la mañana. (It’s ten o’clock in the morning.) Son las once de la noche. (It’s eleven o’clock in the evening.)

  13. Other useful expressions related to time: en punto- sharp, on the dot, exactly. Son las dos en punto. (It’sexactlytwoo’clock.) Es el mediodía. (It’snoon.) Es la medianoche. (It’smidnight.)

  14. Asking about when something takes place: ¿A quéhora? – (At) what time? ¿A qué hora es el concierto? - Es a las siete y media. (At) what time is the concert? - It’s at seven-thirty.
