I believe that education is the best preventative medicine After years of doing surgery on severe bladder and vaginal dysfunctions, I realized that many of the problems my patients were suffering from could have been prevented with education on their own reproductive health. So, I decided to become an educator to put myself out of business. I provide the preventative education in an effort to reduce the amount of women who need the surgery I perform. Ultimately, I want to drastically reduce the amount of women who suffer from vaginal and bladder dysfunctions. 3. ABOUT ME Hi, my name is Dr. Teresa Irwin, but you can call me The Vaginacologist! Before attending medical school, I was inducted into the Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of nursing and I worked as a nurse for many years. In my subspecialty, I am board medicine and reconstructive surgery (FPMRS), previously known as urogynecology. I am one of less than 1,500 board certified FPMRS in the United States and the only one between San Antonio and Austin, TX. I also serve as an expert witness on female pelvic dysfunctions. In 2005 I was voted as a "Top Doctor", in 2006 one of the “Best Doctors in Texas” and in 2007, 2011, 2020 one of the “Super Doctors” by Texas Research Council of America honored me as “America’s Top Obstetricians and Gynecologists” in 2008 and 2010. certified in female pelvic Monthly.
